The
latest advances in hover-engine technology have allowed
the IDC to begin equipping it's frontline cavalry
squadrons with powerful speeder (hover) tanks such as the
Speeder-tank (Mk-6). The powerful engine allows for both
good speed, and heavy armour. However, the advantages of
speed are 'brought' partly by compromising armament. That
is not to say the hyper-accelerated Blaster-cannon isn't
devastatingly effective, but it has less firepower that
of the heavier 'Cruiser-tank'. All the advanced technology and high kit-level of the speeder-tank comes at a premium and it is very expensive. The intended tactic is to employ small numbers of speeder-tanks on the flanks of a frontal assault (with Cruiser-tanks) such that they can use their speed to out-flank the enemy as they come forward to meet the assault. The model is comparatively simple with a turret which could be used on other models to create new units. Tracks could maybe be added or alternative turrets added.
