The Sphink was designed to provide the Imperial shock troops with an assault tank fast enough to outflank the line of contact during a frontal assault. It can be seen as the IKA's response to the success of the IDC's Speeder_Tanks in combat. However, in order to pack more armour, the Sphinx utilises a crawler configuration.

The pilot sits in the extreme nose which affords excellent visibility. Directly behind the pilot is a dual turbine powerplant providing exellent acceleration.

The heavy assault rockets have a short range but pack an awesome punch. The fuel-air-explosive warhead is much like an incendiary but detonates above the ground, burning the oxygen so fast that it causes a vacume, in turn hype-pressurising the surrounding atmosphere. This is particularly effective against infantry and light vehicles but is less effect against heavier units which usually have sophisticated pressure control and internal live support systems.
